There are no words to truly express our love for our sweet smoosh Duchess. She was only 14, and I have to assume someone in heaven really needed her smooshes because our little family, which we thought would be together much longer, now has a huge hole in it. She was with us for five and a half years, which wasn’t nearly enough. But as my husband said, there never would have been enough time with Duchess.
She came to our home after my nephew in Montana texted me asking if I would adopt his then-roommate’s cat when the semester ended. I figured she must be special if he was asking me… and she was. We will never forget her face smooshes or kitty hugs. Our hearts are so broken, and only the thought of her now fully healthy and happy brings us peace. We are so grateful to Dr. Kaity and Caring Pathways for helping her cross over in the kindest way possible.
Duchie, saying goodbye to you on August 10, 2024, was one of the hardest things we’ve ever had to do, but we hope you’re now enjoying all the sunny flops and sour cream your heart desires.
Rest in peace, sweetest girl. Take all the kisses with you.
