We lost our two girls recently, a little over a month apart. We had used Caring Pathways in the past with senior dogs, but this time it was harder. Our girls were only 5. We took them in for a family friend a year and a half ago. Not enough time ever. We are grateful to the staff who came to help the girls cross the bridge; they were miraculous. You know you made the right choice when you see the vet crying with you. Millie crossed first. They suspect she had a neurological disorder on top of two torn ACLs. She was such a joy, always excited when you returned home, with the best butt wiggle welcome. She loved the “car wash,” where she walked between your legs to get as many pets as possible. A while after her sister Nala tore her one good ACL, and there wasn’t a guarantee surgery could fix it. We were rehabbing her torn ACL on the other leg. She lost control of her hind end completely. Nala was the master treat tester. Food was her favorite, but what she loved most of all was running on our 4-acre farm. She had a great Husky voice and one big, beautiful blue eye. She never met anyone who wasn’t a friend. We decided to let her cross the bridge to meet her sister, where ACL tears don’t exist. We are so grateful to Caring Pathways for coming to our home, where our babies were most comfortable, and helping them on their journeys.
