My wonderful Lumi came into my life one late night in October 2010 while I was browsing a shelter website, shortly after being discharged from the Marine Corps. She was 10 months old, according to the shelter, and a stray. I thought, “Oh my God, what a beautiful dog!” The next day, I visited the shelter, and within minutes, I knew I had to take her home. She was so sweet, excited, and chill all at once. They had named her “Lumi,” Finnish for “Snow,” which I kept—it was perfect. Over the last 15 years, she has been my OG. She never caused trouble and joined me on adventures across the country. When we lived downtown, she was known as the orange dog, loved by everyone on the street. She helped raise a wonderful Husky and brought so much light and healing to me and many others. I know it’s time for her to go, and there will always be a hole in my heart for her. Best dog ever… You will be missed.
