Mabel has been doing pretty good. She sleeps a bit more and it takes her longer to get comfy but she seems to be feeling well. Today is her 6 month blood work check up. These always make me anxious. I dread the day when they say that her kidney levels are high or that she has diabetes. I love her so much and I don’t want that day to come.
We have been doing everything we are supposed to. She is on her enzymes and her kidney food. We are monitoring her water intake and urination output. She seems to be good but you never know with cats. They are tough and private and can hide pain very well.
There are days that she seems to move a bit slower. But I guess at 16 years old, that is bound to happen. There are also days…most days in fact…that she acts as she always has. She can jump and run and enjoys a good game of fetch. But with each day, week and month that passes, I can’t help but think that my time with her is limited. She could very well have years left, but to me….that is not enough.
For now I will enjoy each moment with her and make sure that her elderly years are comfortable. I will do all that I can to make sure she is healthy and to make sure she knows how much I love her.
