Mickey

Aug 8, 2025

There are no words for Mickey. He truly was the brightest of stars that burned a little too fast. We called him the “fan favorite” because everyone he met fell in love with him instantly—with his icy blue eyes and polite demeanor. He was quiet but patient, and all he wanted was to be surrounded by people.

His siblings miss him dearly. They lay where he used to lay, wait for him even when he doesn’t come anymore, and search around the house to see if he’s hiding. I also catch myself doing the same thing—believing his fuzzy head will perk up from the corner of the couch or that he’s waiting in the kitchen after hearing the chop on a cutting board or the crinkle of a plastic bag.

He was our little red panda—tube in shape, perfectly squishy. We always thought he had an old soul, always observing and taking in the views. He was goofy and playful, and though he rarely howled, every time he did was a treat. We’d howl alongside him and tell him how beautiful his voice was.

Cancer took him from us a little before his 5th Gotcha Anniversary. Such a short time, but a time filled with memories and love I can never replace. He snored in my lap as he drifted to sleep in our home with our other pups. Nothing has felt this devastating—losing one of our baby boys. Nothing can compare to him, and nothing in this world can replace the joy he brought to everyone.

Mickey, Mickothy, Sir Micks-a-Lot, Michelob Ultra… until we meet again. Please wait for us on the other side of the rainbow bridge. ❤️
