Lexi

My sweet baby Lexi—to say she will be missed is a huge understatement. Lexi was bigger than life; her sass and spunk filled every room she was in. She had me trained in a month’s time and held the key to my heart forever. We always understood each other on a deeper level, and I knew what each grunt and groan meant. (Most of the time, she wanted food.) She showed me unconditional love. She was my protector, my best friend, and my favorite companion.

Our adventures were some of the best times of my life, whether it was just the two of us or joining friends. In her younger, naughty years, she/we were hiking machines. It was the only thing I knew to do to get her energy out. She took in every view, on the edge with me, just looking at what we accomplished and at the beauty that surrounded us.

She was always my favorite hello and my most difficult goodbye. Lexi touched the lives of everyone she encountered. She just knew everyone wanted to meet her—even if they didn’t. Her memories will live with me for a lifetime, and I’ll forever be grateful that she found me, chose me, and loved me.

Rest easy, my sweet baby. You did an amazing job. Mommy loves you.
