Our sweet dog Daisy left us today, helped with kindness and grace by Dr. Kira Forlenza.
I met Daisy while volunteering at Soul Dog, an animal rescue shelter in Ft. Lupton, during the spring and summer of 2021. One of my tasks was walking the dogs, and of course, I walked Daisy several times. Somehow, she began looking for me to arrive for our walks. She was a gentle soul, and we bonded quickly; her adoption soon followed. Despite her being an old gal—or maybe because of it—our time together felt even more precious.
So many of the dogs at Soul Dog truly longed for a forever home. If I could have adopted more, I would have.
The attached picture is from her adoption day, July 2, 2021. She looked so happy, as did we.
