Will the Circle Be Unbroken?
A Tribute to my Dog Teddy
He was a rescue dog who rescued me, giving me ten years of love and companionship,
Greeting me whenever I came home
Following me with his all-seeing lazy eye, promising mischief
Bringing me joy with his favorite game “Get the Teddy”
Leading the way on walks around the neighborhood with his blind friend Poppy close behind
Grounding me with his comforting presence,
Lying quietly at my feet or curling up in the nearest guitar case as I played and sang
I like to imagine him running free in an endless field of flowers, maybe pausing
to listen to a faraway sound, a gentle reminder of the place he once knew as his
As long as he’s in my heart, the circle will be unbroken.
