Our “Sadie Bug” was the dog everyone wishes to have as a companion. Sadie came into my life at the end of college, when I was about to begin my adult life. As soon as she looked up at me with those big brown eyes, it was inevitable—she would come home with me. Over the course of the next 16+ years, we would share every adventure together.
Sadie was a fierce companion, completely loyal, and had a feisty personality. She endured countless moves, people and pets coming and going, and yet, her little paws were right next to me the entire time.
Some of Sadie’s favorite things were chasing squirrels in the backyard, launching herself off a few stairs, barking at other dogs who were playing, biting the vacuum cleaner, snuggling up with her humans, going on long walks with her sister Molly, basking in the sun, rolling in the stinkiest part of the grass, and getting her favorite treats. Everyone referred to Sadie as the “mama dog” because of how she would make sure everyone was doing what they were supposed to. Sadie was also the dog who, while at a dog park, would rather be next to her humans instead of playing with the other dogs!
We were lucky enough to have her grace us with her presence for over 16 long years, and in that time, she had the opportunity to spend half of her life with my wife and a couple of years with our daughter. Everyone who came in contact with our sweet Sadie fell in love with her expressive eyes, wonderful personality, and playful nature.
Sadie crossed the Rainbow Bridge on the afternoon of May 5th, with her family by her side. We are all going to miss her dearly, and our lives have been indelibly touched by her little paws forever.
We love you, Sadie Bug!
