Dex

Feb 8, 2022

We said goodbye to our sweet Dex, on 1/28 after 12 and a half amazing years with him. Dr. Gina was so kind and lovingly guided us through the gut-wrenching, but ultimately beautiful experience. He was definitely finishing up his 9th life and it was time. After diabetes, arthritis, and heart problems, he let us know he was ready.

This little guy was the best pup for our family. Dex was born on 8/8/09, and we met him right around Christmas that year. Our kids were little and it was such a gift that he has watched them grow to older teens. He loved camping with us in our pop-up and would sit out with us around the fire (always in a lap, never in the dirt – he’s not an animal). Then after about an hour when he’d had enough, he go inside the pop-up and curl up for bed while we’d continue out by the fire. He was there for us, but also knew his boundaries. 🙂 His favorite things were eating, cuddling with us on cold nights, hanging out with us in the backyard, and chasing squirrels. We are heartbroken and miss him terribly, but know he is stronger again now, and running with so many old and new friends. We love you forever, Dex, and miss you every day.
