A Testimonial from Kelly of Brighton

Deciding to say goodbye to a family member who has been by your side for fifteen and a half years is one of the most agonizing choices a person can make. While we had used Caring Pathways years ago for our Lab and knew how compassionate they were, the weight of the decision for our beloved Sawyer was no less heavy.

Dr. Mavi Graves came to our home and immediately put us at ease. Even when you know in your heart it is time, it is nearly impossible to feel completely comfortable with the finality of it. Dr. Graves sat with us, observed Sawyer, and listened to our experiences. By explaining the clinical signs she was seeing, she bridged the gap between our grief and our logic. She provided the comfort and clarity we needed to know we were doing the right thing for him.

It is gut-wrenching to think about ending the life of a soul you love so deeply. However, we recognized that Sawyer’s quality of life was fading. We understood that pets rarely pass peacefully in their sleep; more often, it is a slow and difficult decline, and we refused to let him endure that. Dr. Graves walked us through the process with such grace and transparency. It was a peaceful, quiet transition and truly the most dignified and selfless gift we could offer him.

I cannot fully express what it meant to have Dr. Graves with us. Her unique blend of empathy, knowledge, and experience helped us navigate the delicate nature of a home passing. Having someone so skilled and kind is imperative during such a vulnerable time. We are profoundly grateful to Dr. Graves and the team at Caring Pathways. Because of them, Sawyer was able to pass peacefully in his own home, surrounded by the family who cherished him for over a decade. Thank you for everything.
