Bailey Boo “BB” Pose

In Loving Memory

Bailey Boo “BB” Posey was my loyal companion and best friend for 14 unforgettable years. Born in Georgia in 2010, Bailey’s journey was nothing short of extraordinary. Together, we traveled through life, making memories in Georgia, Virginia, California, Idaho, and Colorado. Bailey was a true adventurer, exploring the wonders of Zion, Bryce Canyon, Capitol Reef, and Lassen national parks. Through every move and every moment, his boundless love and infectious joy were constants in my life.

Bailey faced life’s challenges with remarkable courage. Between ages 9 and 11, he endured seizures, showing a resilience that inspired everyone around him. Later, cataracts clouded his vision, leading to cataract removal surgery while we were living in California. Although complications from the surgery resulted in glaucoma, causing him to lose his left eye and, eventually, his sight entirely, Bailey never let blindness dim his spirit. At age 12, when he went completely blind, he quickly adapted and continued to embrace life with his lovable, goofy energy. His unwavering optimism and noble spirit taught me the meaning of perseverance.

In May 2024, Bailey was diagnosed with lymphoma. Knowing how precious our time together was, I cherished every remaining moment. Bailey’s 14th birthday on May 27, 2024, was a celebration of his incredible life and the joy he brought to mine. Just two days later, faced with the hardest decision of my life, I called Caring Pathways to help Bailey transition peacefully. On his final day, Bailey enjoyed all his favorite treats — salmon, bacon, and even peanut butter chocolate ice cream — surrounded by his family. Dr. Megan from Caring Pathways was a compassionate and steady presence, ensuring his passing was serene.

That evening, as I walked in City Park in Denver, I saw a rainbow stretching across the sky, starting near my house and ending in the middle of the lake’s fountain. It was a sign, a beautiful reminder that Bailey was free and at peace.

Months have passed, but the pain of losing my good boy still lingers. Bailey’s absence is deeply felt, but his memory lives on in every corner of my heart. The photo accompanying this tribute is from his 14th birthday, a testament to the incredible journey we shared and the love that will never fade.

I love you, BB. You were the best boy, and I am forever grateful for the years we had together.
