Emmy came into our lives almost six years ago, right before Christmas, with her funny, sassy personality. I will forever miss the pitter-patter sounds of her feet as she zoomed throughout the house and will cherish the time we spent outside; she loved peaceful afternoons in the shade and was so patient when putting on her harness. Emmy loved being in her sister’s room, looking out the window or silently watching the gerbils like she was their babysitter. She loved playing with me at night, always jumping out to scare me at the perfect moment. She adored her dad’s pets, flopping down with her “big stretch” to get his attention. I’d give anything to see her do that again.
Emmy—You taught us so much about courage and the meaning of unconditional love. You fought with quiet grace, enduring each day with a resilience that humbled us all. Even as cancer weighed on your little body, your spirit never wavered, and through your pain, you still found moments to offer love.
We are grateful for every second we had with you, and though we wish we could have done more, we know you always felt the love we tried to give. You were so much more than your illness; you were, and always will be, family. We love you. Rest easy, sweet girl.
