Chandler

Aug 28, 2024

On Monday, 8/19/24, our dear sweet golden retriever, Chandler, asked us to relieve her pain and let us know that her time had come. It was unexpected and much too soon, but I had promised her that if she ever felt her time had come, she should tell me. I had always taken care of her, tried to honor her wishes, and meet her needs, so I would do as she asked and ensure her transition happened at home, surrounded by family, in a calm and peaceful way. I promised to hold and caress her, as I always had, until she took her last breath. My heart was breaking, but I knew I had to do this one last thing for her.

We contacted Caring Pathways, and they couldn’t have been nicer, calmer, or more compassionate. They said a vet would come to our house the next morning. For this terrible and unfortunate event, we were blessed to have Dr. Brewster. She was so calm and compassionate, she felt like a fellow family member. She explained the process very thoroughly and accommodated the four of us surrounding Chandler, hugging and caressing her. Chandler took her last breath and fell asleep, just as she said she would.

I cannot recommend Caring Pathways and Dr. Brewster enough. I don’t know that I can ever go through this again, but if I have to or if someone asks me, I would want Dr. Brewster to be there with us again. Thank you.
