We adopted Minnie as a senior pet while living in Albuquerque, New Mexico. As a rescue, she had not learned how to walk on a leash, play with toys, enjoy treats or cuddles. In the 6 years that Minnie became a part of our pack, she learned all these things and taught us so much in return.
At only 8 pounds, she abounded with love, joy, and patience. She hiked the Grand Canyon, the Black Canyon and experienced more cross-country road trips than we can count. Minnie loved blankets, her fuzzy toys (Elmo, Mr. Squirrel and Wormy), long walks, chasing birds and sitting in the sun.
Despite her rough beginning before joining our family, she always unconditionally loved people and exuded light. It was with heavy hearts that we said goodbye to Minnie on 07/05/19. We celebrate her life and hold her in our hearts as an example of unwavering love and patience. We dedicated 2 Corinthians 4:6 to her as it states: “Let light shine out of darkness.” Rescue pets like Minnie exemplify this verse. So often the beginnings of their stories are filled with darkness, yet, they go on to bring an abundance of light and love into our lives in unimaginable ways. We know Minnie is in good company and look forward to being reunited with her in heaven someday.
