My dearest Sassy came to me when she was just 4 weeks old. Her momma was a barn kitty and abandoned the litter. She was so precious and sassy and I was so happy to be her new momma. She enjoyed catching bugs and bringing them inside for us. Dragonflies were her favorite catch because they were a challenge. She liked to drink water from the bathtub, whether it was straight from the faucet or you were in it taking a bath. I joked with my kids that we were her “human tea” (later changed to Sassy drinking our humanity). She enjoyed taking catnaps in the sink where it was nice and cool. If you couldn’t find her roaming the house, she was almost always asleep in the sink. She was my faithful friend for almost 19 years, loving me unconditionally through every milestone. She was there for new homes, job changes, a husband, children, divorce, and other new pets. She always knew when I needed an extra snuggle. She often reminded me that she was still the boss even in her last years. She liked scratches on her cheeks and chin, but only until she was done. She had the softest kitty fur, like a rabbit. She had the loudest purr from any cat I’ve ever heard and the biggest green eyes. I’ll miss that very much. I’ll miss waking up in the morning and getting her breakfast ready (Sassy always came first) and then making sure there was a drip from the bathtub faucet for her to drink at her leisure. No one could ever replace my Sassy and I will carry her in my heart until we see each other again. Rest peacefully, my love.
