Ashley Barthel, Veterinarian

Dr. Ashley is originally from the suburbs of Chicago and stayed in the Midwest for her education. She graduated from Butler University in Indianapolis in 2012 with her undergraduate degree, and University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in 2016 with her veterinary degree. She practiced in a busy small animal general practice in the Chicago-area for two years but knew she wanted to move to Colorado after falling in love with the state during a 4 th year veterinary rotation. She relocated to Denver in 2018 and hasn’t looked back! Prior to joining the Caring Pathways team, she worked in a low-cost hospital serving the community.

Dr. Ashley is inspired by the lifelong bonds formed between owners and their fur babies, and feels honored to support families through the geriatric and end-of-life journey. She truly believes a peaceful passing is the last gift we can give to our beloved pets and being able to provide that experience in their home is such a privilege.

In her free time, Dr. Ashley likes to spend as much time in the mountains as possible – hiking, camping, and skiing. Her favorite hiking partner is her purebred mutt and souldog, Finnick; she also has a feisty house panther named Riggins. She and her boyfriend are avid travelers and concertgoers. Dr. Ashley is passionate about the wellbeing of veterinarians, the role of the veterinarian in public health, and volunteers her time with the Colorado Veterinary Medical Association.
